David Sterns in Financial Post on Inco case

The Financial Post has quoted Sotos LLP lawyer David Sterns in an article about the recent Ontario Court of Appeal case Smith v. Inco Limited. The case concerned a mass tort class action claim stemming from alleged environmental abuses. Though successful at trial, the decision was completely overturned on appeal. The article quotes:

Mr. Sterns, who frequently represents plaintiffs in class action cases, called Friday’s ruling a “dramatic reversal” in “a marathon dispute between people in a community and a very large company.”

“Everybody else follows in the path that these cases blaze,” he said, noting that only a limited number of cases go all the way to trial.
