Allan Dick in Lexpert magazine

Sotos LLP partner Allan Dick was recently quoted in Lexpert magazine commenting on the recent franchising class action case of Fairview Donut Inc. v. The TDL Group Corp. In the case, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice dismissed a class action brought by Tim Hortons franchisees, who alleged that the franchisor had illegally forced them to purchase expensive donuts and lunch food. The article quotes:

But Allan Dick of Toronto’s Sotos LLP, a franchise boutique, says there is nothing novel about the decision. “The ruling is fairly consistent with accepted principles, and as such is not a shift in the pendulum.” he says. “It is a win for franchisors on facts that are clearly within the accepted law.”
