Evan Brander
Associate
Evan is an associate in our litigation department and is building a diverse practice in the areas of commercial litigation, franchise litigation and class actions.
Prior to joining Sotos, he served as a judicial law clerk with the Divisional Court of the Superior Court of Justice, assisting with a broad range of administrative law, civil litigation and class action matters. He also previously worked for the Province of Ontario’s civil litigation department, working on a wide range of litigation matters, including Crown liability claims, Indigenous litigation matters and class actions.
Evan earned his J.D. from the Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Toronto Metropolitan University, graduating as bronze medallist. During law school, Evan volunteered with Halton Community Legal Services, assisting clients appealing denials of social benefit claims. He also served as a Junior Fellow with the Centre for Free Expression, conducting research on anti-SLAPP legislation and access to information law.
Prior to law school, Evan earned a Masters of Public Policy from the University of Toronto and worked as a policy advisor with the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario for several years.
