Sotos LLP welcomes Louis Sokolov

Sotos LLP is pleased to announce that leading Toronto litigator Louis Sokolov has joined the firm.

Louis has more than 20 years experience in employment law, class actions, and professional liability litigation. Previously, Louis was a partner and the head of the civil litigation and class action groups at one of Canada’s best-respected employment law firms.

Louis is an outstanding class action lawyer who is co-lead counsel in a number of complex and ground-breaking cases including Fresco v. Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Fulawka v. Bank of Nova Scotia – the largest employment class actions certified in Canada. He has also served as lead counsel in a number of other class proceedings concerning intellectual property, consumer protection, and retirement benefits. He will join our existing class action partners – Allan Dick, David Sterns, and Jean-Marc Leclerc – in one of the strongest class action teams in Ontario.

Louis will head up an employment law practice providing service to clients at all stages of the employment relationship. This will include, advising on and negotiating employment contracts at the time of hiring, providing practical strategic advice on issues that arise concerning employment, and dealing with the termination of employment. 

Louis also has significant expertise in professional liability matters including successfully representing lawyers as “preferred counsel” and acting for, or against, many other kinds of professionals.  In addition, he has experience before all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada and many different administrative tribunals.
